JIE Notes to Candidates and Syllabus 2017

Please note a message below from the JIE Board about the Insolvency Rules 2016.

On 22 July 2015 The Insolvency Service announced that it is now expected that the Insolvency Rules 2016 will be made in the Spring of 2016 and will come into force on 1 October 2016.

In its published Syllabus the JIEB states that examination questions will be based on the relevant law and guidance in force on 30 April for the year of the examination. For 2016, and for the new Insolvency Rules only, the JIEB have previously announced that a cut-off date of 31 July 2016 would apply.

If the timetable announced by the Insolvency Service on 22 July 2015 is adhered to, the Insolvency Rules 2016 will come into force after 31 July 2016. Accordingly, on the present timetable, the Insolvency Rules 2016 will not be examined at the November 2016 sitting of the JIEB examinations.

There is of course a possibility that the timetable as announced by the Insolvency Service will change. If this happens, the JIEB will issue a further statement.
